A high performing ceiling system

When a controlled environment free of air-borne contaminants is paramount, every aspect of the design needs to contribute to maintaining cleanroom standards. Used in aerospace, microelectronics, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and healthcare, cleanrooms require high-performing ceilings to create safe, productive spaces.

ISO classified stone wool ceiling tiles meet low particle-emission requirements, feature high sound absorption, natural moisture resistance and a Class A Fire performance. When combined with Chicago Metallic® gasketed ceiling grid systems, they offer an ideal cleanroom solution that can span everything from a vast manufacturing facility to a small, specialized laboratory.

Classification & Requirements

According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), “cleanrooms are zones where contaminants in the air are highly controlled.” Ceilings in cleanrooms should be designed to follow ISO 14644-1 “Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments-Part 1: Classification of air cleanliness by particle concentration.” This standard specifies the classification of air cleanliness in terms of concentration of airborne particles in cleanrooms and controlled environments. The particle size is measured in microns and the concentration in particles per cubic meters. The ISO cleanroom classifications look at all particles starting at 0.1 microns up to 5 microns.

Based on particles per cubic meter, cleanrooms are divided into 9 classes. Class 1 represents the most stringent of classification. We offers five tiles with ISO classifications.
